The Brief

Create an A2 poster and bumper sticker for the Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club to promote the safe travelling distance motorists must maintain when passing cyclists.

The Solution

A bright, eye-catching creative, incorporating illustration and bold typography to effectively communicate the message.

The Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club is an inclusive club for all cyclists in Sydney’s inner west. They ran a design competition in 2019, asking participants to promote the safe travelling distance when driving next to cyclists. The brief required the creatives to incorporate the DHBC brand colours of red and black, and their logo.

The design aims to be a piece that is bold, fun and engaging, with the use of 3D type created in Illustrator as a quirky addition and illusion to cyclist-motorist accidents. Yellow was included as a staple colour to reflect road signage, and create easy contrast against the block red.

The illustrations were also created in Illustrator, with the use of gradients, block colours and warped shapes to create the shadows.
